The satin is drying in the garage. The pattern tracing paper won't cut easily with an X-acto knife. I can't get the selvages on my press cloth to line up no matter how many times I pull on the biases. I trimmed off the frayed edges and will finish those. I'm not going to worry too much about the press cloth right now.
I got my GST cheque today. I'll be going to cash that and mail a package to Texas later tonight. Mother said to go early for my hair cut appointment, to be there at 10:30. So I get there and end up waiting about an hour before my turn. A couple was there, the lady getting colour done. The husband's Mother passed away two days ago and they're flying to India, about 16 hours travel time.
After the haircut I went shopping for maple syrup, eye and hook fasteners, fabric, thread and more pattern tracing paper, which I'm glad I did because the robe's front and back are one piece each.
I got home about 2.5 hours after my haircut and Mother was putting stuff in the washer so I had to wait about an hour before I could preshrink my fabric.
It is almost 11pm and I'm done pressing my cloth for now. Tracing my pattern is next. I chose the medium size rather than copying all the sizes to save time. I'm wishing I had more pattern tracing paper so I can make the cutouts for the layers.
A few more minutes until 3. I traced the pattern pieces, cut them out, then cut my polyester. The polyester has the thread going diagonal so I hope there is more margin for error with grainlines. When pinning the pieces I hold the pin perpendicular to the fabric, then I have to pull up on the fabric, pin, then smooth the fabric back down for the next pin. I have to keep telling myself that nothing's perfect and things are adjustable. I cut the sleeves last, took the pins off and noticed that the fabric did not match the pattern piece. Something got shifted somewhere and I've no more of that polyester to use except for scraps. What do tailors do with all their scraps, used pins and needles? I keep imagining landfill sites all over accepting only the leftovers from one hobby/profession/whatever.
Not a lot of time to figure out my designs and layering of the different satin fabrics now. I should start cleaning up and packing soon.
